“I'd be embarrassed to serve anything else," says Sean, owner of Annie's Seafood Restaurant as he holds out a basket of fries. At one end of the basket are the fries I've just tried, which I thought were pretty tasty. On the other end are fries made with potatoes Sean just drove over three hours to pick up because he's having a difficult time sourcing potatoes that are up to the standard of the french fry he wants to serve.
I pick up one of the new fries and I can already see and feel the difference. This fry is golden and light. I take a bite and enjoy one of the best fries I have ever tasted.
This is just one example of the attention to detail that sets Annie's comfort food staples apart. Most of the menu is made in house right down to the mayonnaise in the salads, dips and tartar sauce. Everything is fresh.
We had a chance to sample juicy breaded shrimp and delicate battered Canadian Haddock with a flakey texture. The Galley Kettle Chips with Creamy Dill Dip were to die for! Some claim their coleslaw is the best in town, which I think is true. The pasta salad of the day was full of veggies and other goodness. For the vegetarian, you are in for a treat with Annie's Beyond Beef Burger. The selection of toppings is outstanding.
Annie's has recently added CarHop service for a retro flare. Or take out a family pack to enjoy at home, at work or in the park.
