FAS ( Fear Anxiety Stress) This is an assessment I do on each pet when I meet them. Using my Certified Fear Free training and assessment tools including the FAS scale. When I met Cookie she was a level 4 FAS inching closer to 5. She would hide under the couch barking, growling, trembling. She would not come out for a treat even a high value reward treat trail. Her sister would be on my lap licking my face and I would just sit near the couch talking gently to Cookie. after a few visits she was on the couch but still not moving or allowing me into her space. Using most of my Fear Free strategy tool kit, after a year, Cookie is fully trusting me, she plays enrichment games, cuddles and takes both food and treats from my hand! Cookie is in a calm relaxed state when being cared for. I have earned her trust and worked with her comfort, and emotional wellness in mind each step of the way.
