About Us
Cheers! My name is Cheryl and I started Fido’s Playground back in 2007 from my extreme obsession for dogs. From working at a pet supply store. To becoming a certified dog trainer and behaviour therapist. I seen a need for dog socialization that wasn’t just dropping your dog with a person at a kennel, and not seeing where they were going. From the moment you step into Fido’s you can see everything! So yes! you may get barked at. In our lobby, we carry treats, toys, collars, leashes, pet wellness products, raw food, and some seasonal clothing. Make your way to the fence, and you will see the brightly colored walls, 3/4 inch rubber flooring for ease on your pets joints. Virtually an indoor dog park, without the parents. We have dog specific equipment, ramps, steps, tunnels, platforms, and toys galore. Several dog beds for the lounging monkeys. We even have a treehouse with a dog bed. The odd things you might see in the daycare is the wheelchair and the walker. Yes you heard it! Because to us socialization is really important, we want to make sure your dog isn’t afraid of someone that uses a wheelchair or a walker. All dogs show fear differently. We go outside every hour, but the majority of our play is done inside, where the temperature is always perfect. So you know your dog will get the same consistent exercise. We play training games with our guests, it helps build confidence in our newer guests. And its just plain fun for the rest of the group.Another thing that was unique to Fido’s is that we don’t take appointments for the daycare. Life is complicated enough not to have to worry about pet care, we are here for you. Drop off when you need, pick up when you want. This concept came from my early visits to my chiropractor. Norm always figured the only way he would get me to come to get adjusted, is if I can just come when I need it. So when it comes to the dogs. Just bring them when you need it. We have a half-day rate that is up to 5 hrs, and full-day which is anything over 5 hrs. Drop off when you need, pick up when you like.
Nail clipping was something that I learned to do very well. I take my time with the dogs, to ensure they are comfortable with getting their nails done. We don’t want them to be fearful of having such a necessary thing done.
Pet Shuttle! Yup we have that too. Since 2007, we have been picking up and dropping off dogs because their schedule doesn’t allow them to drop off or pick up there dogs within our hours. Or some people just don’t drive. Buster was the first ever dog in “the Ruff Bus”. His mom has MS and couldn’t get him to daycare, but needed him out of the house for her caretakers to come in and assist her. Thanks Buster RIP
And last but not least is Dog Training! We have puppy classes, up to intermediate. We even do scent dog training!
